E3 2010 Press Conference: Nintendo

Story by: Eric

The word shocker got brought up a lot from E3 2010. If you heard that word, which I’m assuming you did, it was referring to the Nintendo Press Conference. Not in the past God-knows-how-many-years has Nintendo even come close to a presentation like this. Nintendo went on to please all gamers, old, new, and current. Ladies and gentlemen Nintendo won E3 2010 and I will tell you why.

Where can one start with the Nintendo Press Conference? Let’s just jump right into the biggest shocker the Nintendo 3DS. When the 3DS was first announce during the launch of the DSi XL most of us laughed. Why Nintendo would announce a new portable during the same week of the DSi XL’s launch? Simple it kicks ass.

The Nintendo 3DS is more than just a gimmick, it is a whole new way to play games on the go. Most people are going to flock over to this handheld for the 3D gimmick, but gamers will notice the power that’s inside. More powerful than a Wii?!?! That alone should tell you that this portable is nothing to laugh about. Sure the 3D thing might be wasteful, 3D could even be dead when this thing is released, but it could turn out to be neat for some of the games.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, the latest adventure in the Zelda series. The game didn’t get started too well with control problems, but when it did work I was excited. This Zelda looks to be a combination of both the old and new. With the help of the Wii Motion Plus I’m sure this game will control a whole lot better than the first Zelda game on the Wii.

A new portable and Zelda game, what could top this? How about Donkey Kong Country Returns? Finally, a new Donkey Kong game that doesn’t involve a stupid ass gimmick, like the past few Donkey Kong games. Returns looks just like the old games on the SNES, down to the fun gameplay we all loved at some point in our lives.

Mario returns in Mario Sports Mix. Wii Sports plus Mario should equal high sales and some good fun, either when you are drunk or sober. I think this game will be great. But hey who gives a shit when you have another shocker like Kirby’s Epic Yarn. All I have to say is finally! Thank you Nintendo, for bringing back the days when everyone loved Nintendo.

Wii Party…who cares. There are a ton of mini games in this package and it comes with a Wii Mote. Yes that is correct, a cheap game with a controller will sell a lot and Nintendo will be printing money again.

Metroid Other M was shown again and a late August date was confirmed. Team Ninja has done a great job with this game and I really do hope it comes out in August. Again another game when old meets new, Metroid Other M should be in everyone’s collection when it comes out.

There is so much I can say about Nintendo’s Press Conference. To wrap things up let me talk about some of the hot DS games coming out. Dragon Quest IX (coming out in July), Golden Sun Dark Dawn, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, and Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem. If all of these games do come out when scheduled then we are going to have another great year with our DS systems.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention some other big topics brought up, going back to the 3DS. Kid Icarus: Uprising will be out on launch and it should be fucking awesome. Then you have to account all of the franchises coming out on the 3DS from Resident Evil, Saints Row, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and so much more. See what I mean how there was so much to talk about with the Nintendo Press Conference?

Final Verdict
Every since the Wii was first shown Nintendo has never really done a good job at E3. If a game was announced it got delayed forever or it completely changed into some mini game package. Nintendo has finally figured out what fans want. With everything shown I truly do believe that Nintendo will deliver, they couldn’t possibility screw this up.

The Wii games coming out should make hardcore gamers happy and the 3DS will excite all of those who love to play games. Nintendo is heading into the right direction and I am finally going to turn my Wii on again. Thank you Nintendo, you finally made me believe again.
