To get a taste of the new Filter album Rocket Science Ventures is putting out The Inevitable Relapse 7”. If you don’t know what a 7” is I will give you a quick rundown. It is a record, not a CD, a black record that your parents use to listen to. For some reason this format has made a comeback and that means singles are typically released this way, along with the digital format.

Any way the one track on here, The Inevitable Relapse, was not the best choice of tracks to show off. The track, instrumental wise, sounds like old Filter when they were straight industrial rock. Not mainstream flavor with the instrumentation folks, this is the Filter that came onto the scene and made us stick with them through thick and thin.

On the lyric format this song reminds me of a bad radio song. Richard Patrick constantly annoys the hell out of me with the chorus. I don’t know I feel like this song really isn’t Filter, just seems like a mainstream song that was given to them. I really don’t see this being a big song…

Final Verdict
Should you buy this 7” before the album’s release? If you are a Filter fan then you might as well. Everyone else should just listen to clips of the track and wait for the new album. The Inevitable Relapse is not a very good lyrical song, but I will still give Filter credit for the full length in August.
