Ozzy Osbourne has been through a lot. Heaven and Hell was formed and I thought they put out one hell of an album and then people sort of forgot about Ozzy’s music. Black Rain wasn’t an album to remember Ozzy by, which I think is why the Prince of Darkness released another new album. Scream is better than Black Rain but it still cannot compare to albums he released with Black Sabbath or his early solo work.

It bothers me so much that Ozzy Osbourne sounds so perfect on his albums and in person he sounds like a drowned rat. We can understand him singing but not talking? There has got to be something going on in the studio and I hate how Scream has the same Ozzy sound we have heard for years. No artist can play a track like this and get away with it. Ozzy’s vocals are just too studio worked, stop it already.

Zakk Wylde and Ozzy Osbourne had a falling out I guess (don’t remember the whole story). When it happened I didn’t give a shit, I thought Zakk could be replaced. I was wrong, Gus C really isn’t as good as Zakk Wylde. Zakk is a really good guitarist ranging from anything metal. Gus C is sort of stuck on a single track. Still good, but nothing like Zakk Wylde.

When Ozzy is sounding good (even though equipment is making him sound young) and I mean really good, almost giving us a taste of doom metal like from Black Sabbath and old Ozzy records, something goes terribly wrong. The instrumentation takes a nose dive in the deep end of the swimming pool and doesn’t want to come back for year. You’re telling me someone or something said this was the Ozzy Osbourne people wanted and let the label print it on CDs? Am I missing something?

Final Verdict
Go right ahead and stand on top of the mountain Ozzy, well at least until word catches on about Scream, the not so grand Ozzy Osbourne album. Again it’s better than Black Rain but I don’t know if that is really a good thing to say, since that might be the albums best feature. Overall not too shabby but I would prefer to pop in some old Ozzy instead of this one.
