Oh crap. It’s my readers!

Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess is one of those PSP Mini games that will actually make you laugh and cry at the same time. I mean the concept around the game is simple and hysterical. To think that the Duke would assume right away that monsters stole his Princess his crazy. Not so crazy as a Duke who looks like a vampire that wants to destroy these monsters to find his normal looking Princess.

Yeah that sounds fun and all and for $3.99 it isn’t that bad of a game. Though, when the crying starts you will cry during all of the five levels. Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess is a hard-as-fuck game that just doesn’t let go. These monsters will kick your ass even when you are kicking theirs and it makes no sense to me since you are following the gameplay mechanics.

Each level starts with some funny dialogue, followed by a hint that is supposed to help you out in the stage. After that it’s a game of jump on the monster while climbing a massive tower, mountain, or any sort of tall object.

As I was playing the game I failed to realize how fast the monsters were. When you jump on them they’ll get a small boost up the tower or mountain. Doesn’t sound all that dangerous but it is, trust me. Those goddamn monsters get such a big boost sometimes that if you don’t do the hint from the start of the stage or can’t do that move you’re done.

On the bright side if you pay attention and not just jump into it you can beat the game in 20 or so minutes. That’s all, 20 minutes to beat a $3.99 PSP Mini game. Not much to it like I said so maybe you want to suck at first to make the game longer…

If you do manage to beat the game fast with your fancy jumping combos there are some trophies to earn. Sony isn’t utilizing the whole trophy system with PSP games but these Mini games sure do add them in all the time. A lot of these trophies are challenging to earn so that factor adds on to the $3.99 price tag. Would you look at that?

Final Verdict
At less than five dollars this game is sort of hit or miss really. On the plus side I enjoy the challenging trophies and the story. On the minus I am not sure about the gameplay, but at the same time if you grasp it right away the game is done in 20 minutes. It is up to you really. I say buy it, you could do a whole lot worse.
