Return to Wonderland #1 of 6
With Alice's daughter in Wonderland now, what will happen to her? From the
last page of issue #1 we saw that Wonderland is not the same any more. Get ready
for a trip down memory lane in the most bizarre way possible.
Calie is not sure if she is dreaming or not. As she begins to travel across
Wonderland she runs into some crazy situations. Her mothers rabbits tries to
confuse the living daylights out of her, she is chased by an ax wielding
craftsman and she is gets attacked by a man eating tree. All of this would be
more than enough for a teenage girl, but things get even more bizarre for poor
Calie.
I was really confused when I read this issue. Right off the bat I didn't
realize if the main characters name changed or now. In issue #1 she was called
Calie. In issue #2 she is simplify known as Carroll. After some asking around I
found out that Calie is sometimes a nickname for women that go by Carroll. Even
if this is a true statement I still think this was a bad choice.
The ending of the issue really confused the hell out of me too. Calie meets
with a strange person and this just leads to me scratching my head. What the
hell is going on? I don't want to give anything away so just take my word that
this issue will force you to read it again within a weeks time.
Just like the last issue, part two is just as disturbing with its art and
story. With all of the moments that had me questioning certain things I still
enjoy this issue. The scene between Calie and the craftsman seems straight from
a real gruesome horror movie.
Final Verdict
Even with all of moments that made me ask questions I still liked this issue.
The art work is still amazing and the general story is shaping up to be another
horror comic classic.
